Our Mission
Kindred Genealogical Society collects, preserves, and shares the genealogical and historical record of Cass County and the Red River Valley. We help researchers of every experience level trace families who homesteaded, farmed, and built communities across eastern North Dakota — and we make sure the records that document them survive.
Our History
The society was founded in 1995 by eleven researchers who met in the basement of the Kindred public library to index local cemetery inscriptions. That first project grew into a catalog of transcribed cemetery, church, census, and courthouse records covering more than a century of county history. Today we hold a research library, publish a quarterly newsletter, and maintain searchable record collections available to anyone.
Meetings
We meet the first Saturday of each month at 10:00 AM in the community room at 402 Elm Street, Kindred, North Dakota. Meetings run about two hours and usually include a program or guest speaker. Visitors are welcome and no reservation is needed — come find out whether we can help with your family.
